Who Am I?
Hello, my name is Renee Prins. I’m a mother, wife, sister, friend, aunt, and daughter—and in all of these roles, I deeply value the importance of meaningful relationships. I love running, volleyball, hiking, swimming, skiing… all the sports! I also enjoy travelling, animals, getting lost in a good book, and listening to podcasts while gardening in my yard.
What drew me to this profession is the opportunity to create a space where people feel supported, understood, and cared for. There is something profound that happens when two people meet in a therapeutic space and create a relationship together, like fellow travellers on a journey. The simple truth of knowing we are not alone and that our feelings are normal can be transformative.
I bring a depth of personal experience, now turned passion, to my work, especially in the areas of reproductive and women’s mental health, grief, hospice, parenting, identity, self-esteem, and marriage. I am committed to supporting clients from all walks of life in their journeys through loss, healing, and personal growth. I work from a trauma-informed perspective, grounded in the belief that healing begins by compassionately witnessing and honouring the parts of ourselves that still carry pain.
Working With Me
I have training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a powerful, evidence-based therapy for processing trauma. My therapeutic approach also draws from person-centred, existential, internal family systems (IFS), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and attachment-based frameworks. These perspectives allow me to tailor my approach to each of my clients, supporting them in understanding themselves more deeply and moving toward improved well-being and meaning.
One of my passions is working with youth and young adults. I feel honoured to support and mentor young people as they navigate life’s uncertainties and explore who they are becoming.
I also believe therapy isn’t just for times of crisis. Proactively caring for our mental health is part of living a full, balanced life. Whether you’re setting goals, building self-awareness, or working on personal growth, therapy can be a powerful tool for showing up as the best version of yourself in your relationships, career, and everyday life.
If any of this resonates with you, I would love to connect and walk alongside you on your journey. For more information about me, check out my Instagram: @reneeprins.therapy.
