Who Am I?
Reaching out for support is not always easy, and it takes strength to take that first step. Whether you are looking for clarity, healing, or simply just someone to talk to, I am here to work with you!
Hi, my name is Alix. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor who has had the opportunity to be working in the mental health field for years now. I bring a passion for helping others as they navigate life.
My journey into counselling began with a strong interest in how people cope, grow, and find meaning to life through the highs and lows, which led me to who I am today; I am fascinated by the human experience. I work with clients in navigating several topics like trauma, anxiety, depression, life changes, grief, shame, and relationships.
I believe people can experience challenges when they are not living as who they are or want to be. Therapy can help people become more aware, reconnect with internal experience, and connect with the body, so they can move toward alignment in a way that feels right for them. I value my client’s autonomy and strive to create a therapeutic alliance that respects you being the expert within your own life. In my work, I want to create a space where you feel heard, seen, and supported as well as provide you with thoughtful and meaningful care.
Working With Me
I come from an athletic background, which has shaped the way I understand resilience, discipline, mindset, and the importance of balance – both mentally and physically. This shows up for me in understanding how emotions, feelings, and experiences sit within the body and the important to listen to what your mind and body are communicating. I understand the value of teamwork, keeping presence under pressure, as well as perseverance, self-compassion, and inner strength; all influencing my approach to counselling today. Outside of work I am a proud dog mom to three energetic dogs who constantly remind me of the power of connection and presence. I enjoy spending time with friends and family as well as taking on any chance to be outside, play sports, travel, or to go on an adventure. I would be grateful for the opportunity to support you in your journey. Wherever you are right now, you do not have to face it alone.
